Legislation Denmark

Donation:

  • A law concerning organ donation exists.
  • Whether the whole eye is considered as organ is uncertain; the cornea is considered as tissue.
    Removal of the eye is allowed.

  • Organ donation is an opting in system; permission must be obtained from the next of kin.

Cornea banking:

  • Eye banks need an accreditation of the National Health Association as competent authority.
    The criteria are defined by this National Health Organisation.
  • An inspection system does not exist.
